Waiting For the Storm

Hot and sweaty
Thick air today.
Clouds at last.
Mountaintops make
The rain seem
More profound.

Man has abandoned
His fellow
Man and
Nature
Simply doesn’t give
A rat’s ass.

Hit him with lightning.
Drown her in a flood.
We are no more
Signficant to Nature
Than the insects
We live with.

Atlantic Rain
Pacific Rain
Tornadoes
In the Midwest
Hurricanes
In the South.

The wind tore him
Out of my arms.
The water bore her
Away from me.
We’re alone
With the debris.
