I SCREWED UP THE SONNET. Didn't have a rhyme

Sonnet VIII

I am found distant from humanity
Perhaps it is too late to find the clue.
Are artists meant to be in reality
Or do we prosper furthest from the zoo?
I don’t want pity, though I use a cane.
But I’d deal with Satan to have a break
From weakness that is making me insane.
And keeping me from being full awake.
I’m wise enough to know we have no choice,
And the alternative is black nothing.
And so, I try to find my rhyming voice.
The woman in me will not find a king
My heart and mind still seem to be intact
I just won’t lay in bed to seek my fun.
It’s time to find the music my life lacked.
And even if I’m trapped inside this chair
I’ll use my words to draw you to my lair.

Poem, Haiku, Sonnet...the whole shebang...shebang!

I
There’s Just Room For One in This Bumper Car

Bleeding bandages speak of open wounds
How can you be the answer when I
Have no clue of what the question is?

I taste the victory of survival…
Which is bittersweet since I’m alone, but
There’s just room for one in this bumper car.

Too wildly dodging the rubber bumpers
To know why we work so hard at this life
Even when there’s no real reward for it.

II
Haiku After Debate between “Then” and “So” Resolved

I am sunshine
You are darkness
We touch and
So destroy each other

My days of sexuality are done
My heart and mind still seem to be intact
I just won’t lay in bed to seek my fun.
It’s time to find the music my life lacked.
And even if I’m trapped inside this chair
I’ll use my words to draw you to my lair.

FInishing one play, we look to Shakespeare for Inspiration

William Shakespeare
[Henry V]

O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend
The brightest heaven of invention,
A kingdom for a stage, princes to act
And monarchs to behold the swelling scene!
Then should the warlike Harry, like himself,
Assume the port of Mars; and at his heels,
Leash'd in like hounds, should famine, sword and fire
Crouch for employment. But pardon, and gentles all,
The flat unraised spirits that have dared
On this unworthy scaffold to bring forth
So great an object: can this cockpit hold
The vasty fields of France? or may we cram
Within this wooden O the very casques
That did affright the air at Agincourt?
O, pardon! since a crooked figure may
Attest in little place a million;
And let us, ciphers to this great accompt,
On your imaginary forces work.
Suppose within the girdle of these walls
Are now confined two mighty monarchies,
Whose high upreared and abutting fronts
The perilous narrow ocean parts asunder:
Piece out our imperfections with your thoughts;
Into a thousand parts divide on man,
And make imaginary puissance;
Think when we talk of horses, that you see them
Printing their proud hoofs i' the receiving earth;
For 'tis your thoughts that now must deck our kings,
Carry them here and there; jumping o'er times,
Turning the accomplishment of many years
Into an hour-glass: for the which supply,
Admit me Chorus to this history;
Who prologue-like your humble patience pray,
Gently to hear, kindly to judge, our play.

The 201st Reinhard Rites! HowApt! A Clean Slate

A Clean Slate

No one but you can live inside your skin
Survival is a lonely business.
There’s only so much that others can do.
Unless you want to drag them through your mess.

I’ve talked and I’ve written a thousand pages
And if you have to talk and write, you’ve lost it.
If things are right you don’t need one lone word
If there’s a fight, they’ve already tossed it.

Of course, if you’re fighting together, sure!
For a common goal and a common cause
Then, that’s good and healthy and edifies.
But fighting each other means broken jaws.

Walk away and start over having learned
More about yourself and how you relate
Don’t try to breathe air into the dying
And thank God above for your cleaned off slate.

Sonnet VII

Sonnet VII
There’s an expectation of a writer
That even in her weakness she be strong.
That her darkness will somehow be lighter
And her musings won’t take so very long.
I know that you expect optimism
And a truth that won’t break your tiny bank.
My insight won’t be a solipcism
And I am not trying your chain to yank.
Now this part of the Sonnet must unveil
The opposite of all I’ve said above
Without biting it’s own fictional tail
And convince readers that it’s meant with love.
And somehow make you think I have a point
That will open our eyes and rise above
Some rapping G girl’s sad-assed busted joint.
So it is with relief we limp to the end
bend fend lend mend pend send tend vend  and wend!

The Bottom Line

I’ve watched illusions shatter one by one
Until there’s nothing left but broken glass.
Just a scent of memory in the air
The inevitable has come to pass.

And just as I suspected from the start
I am cursed to be the one still standing.
Smarter folks and better minds bit the dust
How am I the one to spike the landing?

The jury’s out as to whether I am
A true genius or an idiot.
But I keep thinking I’ve run out of time.
And I’m being asked to dismount the pot.

It’s too late for lovers and adventures.
All I can do is to fill my brief time
With reading and charity and for last
Figuring how to get this shit to rhyme.

Life is L

Life is L

I think I’ve got survival down pat.
But I still crave accomplishment.
And, that ever-elusive bitch called
Love.

My health may have put me on the mat
M.S. a permanent resident
I still keep moving, my ass is hauled.
Luck.

I wish I could have a pussycat
And could pay just a little less rent
Lack of education has me galled.
Loss.

But even though I’m old and I’m fat
I still have my moments of content
Doing my best to get these words mauled.
Laugh.
